Support & Information Find support Child Bereavement UK support services Glasgow 0141 352 9995 / [email protected] Child Bereavement UK, First Floor, 16 Fitzroy Place, Glasgow G3 7RW Support Sessions At our centre in Glasgow, Child Bereavement UK offers face-to-face support for bereaved children and young people up to the age of 25 and their families, within the locality and surrounding areas. We are also able to support children and young people, when someone significant in their lives is not expected to live. Our services are provided free of charge and are offered by trained bereavement support practitioners. Please get in touch to find out more about what we offer and to discuss your needs. Telephone Support Sessions If accessing face to face support is difficult for you, or if you prefer, we can provide a series of booked telephone sessions for parents facing the bereavement of a baby or child of any age, and for parents/careers supporting children or young people, living anywhere in the UK, if someone close to them is not expected to live, or has died. Children aged 4 to 12 can meet other bereaved children with their adult carers and express their feelings through play and creative activities in facilitated groups. These peer support groups are held over 4 Saturday mornings, at our centre in Glasgow, and include structured creative activities such as: felt making drawing collage storytelling The sessions cover themes such as: Memories Who is there for you Coping with different feelings Going forward The groups are run by Child Bereavement UK support practitioners, who all have professional experience in working with children and families. They are supported by a team of trained volunteers. Families tell us that attending these groups has helped them to feel less isolated in their bereavement. Young People’s Advisory Group Young People’s Advisory Group encourages bereaved young people aged 11-25 to meet in a supportive environment, and, based on their own experiences, they work together on a variety of projects, focusing on what they think helps young people who are grieving. Support for Professionals We can support the work that teachers and other professionals are undertaking with bereaved children or young people, through advice, resources or bereavement awareness sessions. Supporting Schools Professionals in schools have a unique role in helping grieving children and young people, as children spend a significant amount of time in school. We can offer support and training to school staff supporting bereaved students. We also run an awareness programme for primary schools called the Elephant’s Tea Party.
