To date, Liverpool’s Bereavement Advisory Group continues to meet and its members have collaborated on presenting a Bereavement Awareness conference at Greenacres Woodland Trust. Ongoing friendships have been forged with other charities in the area, including the Alder Centre; Oakleaf; Listening Ear, Kinship Carers and Merseyside Youth Association.
Calls to the CBUK Helpline have increased, as have visits to our website from the Liverpool area. Most significantly, we have developed a strong working relationship with Education, culminating in Liverpool CCG funding a powerful booklet “A Whole School Approach to Supporting Loss and Bereavement” devised and created by two of our Advisory Group members. This book now sits in all Liverpool schools and the CCG also funded further training and resources for a limited number of schools.
Future plans include raising awareness across other CCGs and Education Authorities regarding the book produced, to encourage other areas to make a similar commitment to the value of bereavement support.
