Family groups

These groups allow bereaved families to get together. Children aged 4 to 12 can meet other bereaved children with their adult carers and express their feelings through play and creative activities in facilitated groups. These peer support groups are held over 4 Saturday mornings, and include structured creative activities such as:

  • felt making
  • drawing
  • collage
  • storytelling

The groups are run by Child Bereavement UK support workers, who all have professional experience in working with children and families. They are supported by a team of trained volunteers. Families tell us that attending these groups has helped them to feel less isolated in their bereavement.

Who can attend?

All family members:

  • Parent/carer
  • Children aged 4 to 11 years

What will the groups offer?

The support groups are held over 4 Saturday mornings in all our locations (except West London) and offer an opportunity for all family members to talk about their situation, and to express their feelings through creative activities such as:

  • Memories
  • Who is there for you?
  • Coping with different feelings
  • Going forward

How can I make an initial enquiry?

Enquires are welcomed from the family direct or by recommendation if the family has agreed to have their contact details passed to us.
