Community Events Intern
Terms: Volunteer
Based: Head Office in Saunderton
Hours: min. 15 hours/week, flexible

You will work closely with the Regional Fundraising & Communications Manager and Regional Fundraising Assistant, focusing specifically on volunteer recruitment for the Let’s Rock series of events, for which Child Bereavement UK is a beneficiary charity. Once recruited, you will be responsible for making regular contact with the 400-500 volunteers to keep them engaged with the charity and event. You will also support the Community fundraising team with sourcing pro-bono products and services and promoting the partnership via social media. By being involved with this project, you will gain experience in how to effectively research, plan and deliver a successful partnership.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Recruit approx. 50 volunteers to support at each of the 9 Let’s Rock festivals across the country and allocate shifts
  • Manage & maintain a positive relationship with volunteers/supporters through regular updates & communications via phone and email pre/post event
  • Attend a minimum of 2 Let’s Rock festivals
  • Secure pro bono refreshments for volunteers & staff
  • Maintain an accurate record on the Raiser’s Edge Database by regularly updating volunteer/supporter information
  • Count money after each event
  • Record income & expenditure for each event
  • Book hotels/transport for staff attending each event
  • Provide copy about the partnership for use on our website and social media
  • Helping to organise merchandise/equipment needed for each event
  • Building good working relationships with the wider Child Bereavement UK team and its supporters
  • Assist with other administrative/ad hoc duties


Working within a busy, small but growing team, the post holder will have the opportunity to gain:

  • Knowledge of the charity sector and insight into how a small/medium sized charity operates
  • Experience in effectively managing a partnership and building relationships with supporters
  • Training on and regular use of Raiser’s Edge, the industry standard CRM system
  • Experience of how to effectively research, plan, prioritise and manage a diverse workload
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong administrative skills including Microsoft Office
  • Experience of recruiting and managing volunteers at events
  • First hand experience of attending fundraising events

A full induction along with ongoing training to support personal professional development will be provided, with regular opportunities for feedback.

This role is flexible hours during the week 9am to 5pm, but preference for Tuesdays and Thursdays.
