About the project

Child Bereavement UK’s Scotland Development Project has been working since 2013 to integrate and improve bereavement support for children and young people in:

  • Edinburgh
  • Glasgow
  • Dundee
  • Aberdeen
  • West Lothian

The Children, Young People and Families Early Intervention Fund, and the Adult Learning and Empowering Communities Fund, will enable Child Bereavement UK to maintain this work in these areas and also extend our support to:

  • North and South Ayrshire
  • North and South Lanarkshire
  • Fife
  • The Highlands
  • Orkney and Shetland

Project Aims

The Scotland Development Project will work in partnership with local education, health and social care services, bereavement services and other voluntary organisations within each locality, to set up advisory groups / networks in each area, with representation from all agencies. Our aim is to ensure coordination of support and to develop clear pathways for children and families.

In project areas we offer

  • Bereavement Awareness training for individuals and organisations
  • Half day seminars for the children’s workforce
  • A national conference for schools
  • Information on publications and resources to support families and schools
