Family Support Groups
These groups allow bereaved families to get together. Children aged 4 to 12 can meet other bereaved children with their adult carers and express their feelings through play and creative activities in facilitated groups. These peer support groups are held over 4 Saturday mornings, at our centre in Glasgow, and include structured creative activities such as:
- felt making
The sessions cover themes such as:
- Who is there for you
- Coping with different feelings
- Going forward
The groups are run by Child Bereavement UK support practitioners, who all have professional experience in working with children and families. They are supported by a team of trained volunteers. Families tell us that attending these groups has helped them to feel less isolated in their bereavement.
Young People’s Advisory Group (YPAG)
Young People’s Advisory Group encourages bereaved young people aged 11-25 to meet in a supportive environment, and, based on their own experiences, they work together on a variety of projects, focusing on what they think helps young people who are grieving.
To find out more about any of the above please call us on 0141 352 9995 or email email@example.com
Support for Professionals
We can support the work that teachers and other professionals are undertaking with bereaved children or young people, through advice, resources or bereavement awareness sessions.
Professionals in schools have a unique role in helping grieving children and young people, as children spend a significant amount of time in school. We can offer support and training to school staff supporting bereaved students. We also run an awareness programme for primary schools called the Elephant’s Tea Party.
Enquiries are welcome directly from families. We also welcome referrals from other agencies if a family has agreed to have their contact details passed on to us. Please do get in touch to find out more about what we can offer.
